Dina Soresi Winter, one of the Dante's favourite and most popular speakers, prepared us for the upcoming performance of Bizet's "Carmen" at the Michigan Opera Theatre in May. |
Carmen is rich in memorable arias including the sultry “Habanera” and one of the best-known arias in all of opera, the famous “Toreador song”. In Dina Soresi Winter’s presentation you heard the tender, seductive and powerful arias and ensembles in this opera as she toke you through the twists and turns of this powerful tragedy. |

March 24, 2009 - Dante Alighieri Society – Michigan Chapter sponsor, "Ah Toscana!" gave an outstanding presentation and olive oil tasting for us at the Townsend Hotel. "Ah Toscana!" is the result of many visits to Tuscany by Bob and Paige Lilienfeld, who felt such passion for this region that they bring some of their favorite products home to share with others. |
Their products include handbags and other goods besides olive oil. Most impressive is their dedication to the purity and creativity of the artisans who produce these treasures; you won't see "Ah Toscana!" labels; rather, all the goods retain their original labeling, giving deserved credit to their creators.
Bob lead us on a fascinating journey, comparing the similarities of fine olive oil and fine wine. The destination of this journey was the tasting table, where we sampled various award winning oils with a new appreciation. |
